I wanted you to be the first to hear some big news.
I'm moving.
No, not to Namibia (though it's tempting, the internet speed there would drive me bonkers). Nor am I leaving my terrific publisher, St. Martin's Press.
But my publisher, St. Martin's Press, has decided to move my regular publication time out of August and into a regular slot earlier in the year - probably around March. They've been wanting to do this for a while, for lots of good reasons that will be boring to anyone outside publishing.
I'll admit it took me a while to see the light, but I've come to realize this is a good move. (I do trust my publisher's killer instincts.) For one, I guess they're pretty enthusiastic about BURIED SECRETS and have some crazy idea that this book is going to ratchet things up a couple of notches and bring Nick Heller to a bunch of new readers. So they want some more time to get the word out and do some clever online campaigns and such (and who am I to argue with that?).
For another, August is a lousy time to do a book tour - plenty of people go on vacation and don't go into bookstores as much, or so I'm told. In my new publishing slot, I'll finally get back to some of my favorite bookstores, particularly in the south and the southwest, where it turns out I have a lot of readers.
Of course, the downside for you, my most dedicated readers (you must be, or else you wouldn't be reading this, right?) is that you have to wait a while longer for the next Nick Heller book. (Believe me, I'm disappointed about that, too - I'm excited to have you read Nick's next adventures, in which he moves to Boston, reconnects with an old lover, Diana, and agrees to help out an old friend of his mother's whose teenage daughter has been kidnapped in the most terrifying way possible.... )
The good news is that VANISHED will be coming out in paperback this August. And . . . HIGH CRIMES, the book that became the Morgan Freeman/Ashley Judd movie, will be reissued as a lead title in January.
And for me, this means that I've got to get right to the next book...
Thanks so much for all your support.

“I'm an avid fan and reader of all of your books, and I am very happy for you regarding the change in release dates for your books. You deserve to be out there with the likes of Lee Child, Tim Green, Andrew Grant, Andrew Gross, etc. who have spring book publications and tours. I wish you much continued success and happy writing!”
