Mug shot from when Joseph got arrested in Zurich. Actually, while he was doing research with the Swiss police for THE ZERO HOUR, he went through the entire arrest procedure so he could write about it -- fingerprinting, mug shots, interrogation, the whole deal. Notice how the mug shot can make even an innocent man look guilty?

Joseph with a pickpocket in Rome named Gianni. While researching the criminal underworld in Rome in 1989 – on his honeymoon! - Gianni picked Joe’s pocket. After confronting him, Joe struck a deal – not reporting him to the carabinieri in exchange for Gianni telling about crime in Rome from the viewpoint of a petty criminal. He agreed and turned out to be a useful source for a scene in EXTRAORDINARY POWERS.
