Joseph’s unfortunate bearded period, which lasted only a year or so. Standing in front of St. Basil’s Cathedral in Red Square on a trip researching the mysterious Dr. Armand Hammer for the non-fiction expose RED CARPET.
Standing before Lenin’s tomb and the Kremlin in Red Square. On a research trip for THE MOSCOW CLUB.
A Soviet visa for one of Joseph’s many visits to Moscow. What’s interesting about this one is that the time before, the KGB said they’d never let him back in. But the name on this visa is transliterated in Russian as “Finn-der” while the earlier one was “Fain-der.” Thus, a new KGB file was started and Joe got in without them knowing he was the same guy. Bureaucracy – one of the many reasons why the Soviets lost the Cold War.
