Killer Holidays
|
|
Happy holidays! It's been much too long since my last newsletter, but I have the best of excuses (I hope): I've been revising the manuscript of my next novel, due out sometime next summer (as soon as we have a firm on-sale date, you'll be the first to know).
The book will be called POWER PLAY, and it's set in an aerospace company like Boeing or Lockheed. Only this time, most of the action doesn't take place at the office. It happens at an "offsite" retreat in the remote wilderness, where the top officers of the company are gathered --- and then something very bad happens. I think it's a cool story: one of the heroes is a young, junior exec who really shouldn't be there (and whom all the big-shots ignore); the other hero is his ex-lover, now an assistant to the new CEO --- who's a woman, for the first time in the company's history. It's a company on the verge of imploding even before they all get to this desolate location. Everyone's got secrets they're hiding, even --- or perhaps, especially --- our hero.
This is already more than I've told anyone else. And I promise I'll have more to say as soon as my publisher lets me.
Almost everyone who's worked for a large organization has at least one offsite horror story. I'd love to hear yours; if you'd like to share it, e-mail it to my webmistress, Clair, at info@josephfinder.com, or post it as a comment to my MySpace page. We'll reprint the best ones in a future newsletter, and everyone who sends in a story (with a complete U.S. mailing address) will receive some KILLER INSTINCT Post-It® notes in appreciation.

My MySpace Adventure
|
Did you catch that oh-so-casual reference to my MySpace page in the last paragraph? It's true: channeling my inner teenager, I've put up a personal page on MySpace. Hey, all the cool kids are doing it --- once I found out that Harlan Coben and Barry Eisler had MySpace pages, how could I resist?
It does feel kind of like high school all over again. Uh-oh --- I only have a hundred-something friends? But the really cool kids seem to have thousands! Anyway, my webmistress, Clair, and I will be adding to it and updating it on a regular basis, so if you're on MySpace, I hope you'll stop by, leave a comment, and add me to your list of friends. Thanks!

Making a List...
|
The holiday season is upon us, and in the spirit of the season, and we'll be drawing five lucky addresses at random to receive a special combination of signed first editions of PARANOIA and COMPANY MAN. At this point, we can't promise that the books will arrive in time for Hanukkah or Christmas --- but what better way to start the New Year? To qualify for this drawing, please send your full name and address to my assistant, Sarah, at sarah@josephfinder.com no later than December 20. Only one entry per household, please --- and unfortunately, we cannot ship books to addresses outside the United States.
For more contests and special offers, check out the Free Stuff page on my website. Thanks, and good luck!

| Planning for 2007 |
|
It's hard to believe, but I'm already making travel plans for the coming year. It's too early to know anything about the POWER PLAY tour, since we don't yet have an official publication date, but I've already committed to several book-related events around the country. Check my tour page for updates and additional information as I get it.
