The VANISHED Quest Game Ends in Two Days!
The summer's flown by, and VANISHED hits U.S. bookstores in less than three weeks. (Spies in the U.K. tell me it's already showing up in stores over there; if you happen to see it, can you let me know at joe@josephfinder.com? I'd love to see photos of the book on display, too.) I'm getting excited, and I hope that you are too.
This newsletter will reach most readers just before the deadline for The VANISHED Quest Game, giving readers in the US, UK and Canada a chance to win an iPhone 3GS (with a $100 iTunes gift card) or one of five signed copies of VANISHED. You just need to follow all the clues planted among my various online presences - starting with my website - and email your answer to the question "What is the common thread in all the clues?" along with your full name and mailing address to Claire@josephfinder.com, with the subject line "The VANISHED Quest Game." Answers must be received by 9:00 a.m. EDT on August 3. Correct answers are entered into a random drawing, and we'll announce the winners at 12:00 p.m. EDT that day. Good luck!

Get Your Free Paperbacks!
Even if you don't win The VANISHED Quest Game, you can still get a free signed paperback of one of my earlier books, plus a copy of The Cowl comic book and a signed bookplate. Here's the deal: For every copy of VANISHED you buy between now and August 22nd at midnight, I'll send you a signed, personalized (if you'd like) copy of any of my last four paperbacks: POWER PLAY, KILLER INSTINCT, COMPANY MAN, or PARANOIA. Get all the details. And thanks for your support!

You're Invited to "The VANISHED Launch"
I'm hosting a (virtual) event on Facebook to celebrate the publication of VANISHED and the launch of a new series. You're all invited and I hope you'll RSVP as Attending. I will call one attendee and give a personalized, signed Joseph Finder library - hardcover editions of POWER PLAY, KILLER INSTINCT, COMPANY MAN and PARANOIA, plus a Limited Edition Advance Reading Copy of VANISHED - as a special thank you. If you're not already on Facebook, consider joining and checking out "The VANISHED Launch" event (you must log in to view the event).

The VANISHED Audiobook
Nick Heller, being a new character, needed a new voice. I was delighted to have the chance recently to spend some time in the recording studio with Holter Graham, the voice of Nick Heller on Audio Renaissance's version of VANISHED. Holter is an actor whose onscreen appearances include roles in "Rescue Me" and "Law and Order;" he's from Baltimore, and sounds just right for Nick. The audiobook of VANISHED will be available on August 18th, through Audible.com, iTunes, and as a CD.

Reviews, Interviews and News
Advance media coverage for VANISHED has already begun, and the reviews are starting to come in. So far, so good; in fact, I'm thrilled to see that Nick Heller's debut is getting some of the best reviews of my career.
It's great to get praise from the official voices of the industry - Publishers Weekly, which said "this thriller will more than satisfy adrenaline junkies and have them guessing until the very end," and Library Journal, which called it "outstanding ... Highly recommended as a summer read." But I admit that it means more to me to be getting great reviews from the real insiders: dedicated fans of the genre like Ali Karim at SHOTS magazine, who said, "When I put the book down all I wanted to do was to start from the beginning again," and Crimespree magazine editor Jon Jordan, who went so far as to say, "If you only read one book this summer, make it VANISHED." Heady stuff, and powerful encouragement as I work on Nick's second adventure!
Several new interviews with me are also online, in print, audio and video formats. You can listen to my conversation with Jake Chism of FictionAddict.com, or read my interview with the previously-mentioned Ali Karim at The Rap Sheet. (Both of those sites are giving away free books, by the way).
I had a conversation of my own with author and Yale Law School professor Stephen L. Carter for The Daily Beast a couple of weeks ago; we'll be on a panel together at the inaugural Boston Book Festival on October 24. Professor Carter's latest book, JERICHO'S FALL, is a thriller that centers on a mentally ill director of the CIA, and I'm still trying not to hold it against him that it took him only eight weeks to write it.
I sat down with Carol Fitzgerald of Bookreporter.com recently to talk on camera. Watch a video about VANISHED and launching a new series and another video about graphic novels and The Cowl.
Finally, PARANOIA is still available as a free electronic download - for a limited time only! - not only at the Kindle Store on Amazon, the Sony eBook store, DailyLit.com and as a PDF download, but also as an audiobook from iTunes. The great Scott Brick is the reader, and makes the audiobook a compelling experience even if you've already read the book.

The VANISHED Tour
The VANISHED tour will be short and sweet, because most people are on vacation in August, and not at home to go to book events ... in fact, I've just added an appearance at the Wellfleet Public Library, which is not far from where my family spends the summer. But if you're anywhere near New York, Washington, Boston, La Jolla or Denver, I hope you'll come out and say hello.
And I'll be trying something quite new - a Twitter Book Tour! For every day of the tour, I (@joefinder) will be on Twitter for a designated hour and will answer questions from readers. This LIVE experience connects me with fans everywhere, all from the comforts of everyone's own living room...or anywhere they happen to be! And, unlike internet "chat rooms," I'll be answering questions immediately, in real time. Stop by, ask me whatever you want, and you'll get an immediate personal reply. Find out how you can participate.
